Jewellery are our most valuable and favorite accessories. Each one is unique and destined to have longevity, whether it is a family heritage or a new purchase. To maintain their shine and beauty, it is important to know and understand how to take care of and protect them.
JEWELLERY CARE TIPS
- Always apply body and neck cream, hairspray and perfumes with a few minutes difference before wearing your jewellery.
- When taking off your jewellery, wipe each piece with a soft clean cloth to remove any sweat or dust.
- Always store your jewellery in jewel cases or fabric-lined boxes, in dry /humid free places.
- Never place jewellery together in the same jewel case, to prevent scratches.
- Never wear jewellery when doing physical work or exercise.
- It is recommended not to expose jewellery to swimming pool chlorine.
- Never sleep wearing jewellery.
JEWELLERY CLEANING TIPS
- Use only a soft brush (ideally an old toothbrush) and clean very carefully the jewellery with warm water to remove dirt or particles.
- If you want to clean a diamond jewel with no mirrors on the settings, you can use a soft brush dipped in warm water with liquid dish soap and a bit of baking soda. Then rinse under running water.
- If you want to clean a jewel with precious or semi-precious stones and you are not familiar with the specific cleaning requirements, you should address to a professional.
- Never expose pearl jewellery to detergent or other chemicals, only rinse under running water and wipe with a clean soft cloth.
- Heavily tarnished jewellery should be cleaned professionally to avoid causing any damage.
LONG LASTING JEWELLERY TIPS
- Clean and have your jewellery checked by a professional, at least once a year, for worn prongs, loose fastenings and stones checked.
- Have your white gold jewellery replated, the yellow and rose gold jewelries repolished, so as to maintain the original condition.
- Have your pearl necklaces threaded with fresh strand at least once every five years, with knots between the pearls.
